Growth Mindset. Extra Credit. Week 5.

Growth Mindset - Challenge # 10. Multiple Intelligence.  Learn about Howard Gardner's multiple intelligences and think about which intelligence(s) you want to grow.

According to Dr. Howard Gardner there are eight types of intelligence.
1. Naturalist Intelligence (nature smart)
2. Verbal Intelligence (word smart)
3. Visual Intelligence (picture smart)
4. Bodily Intelligence (body smart)
5. Musical Intelligence (music smart)
6. Interpersonal Intelligence (person smart)
7. Intrapersonal Intelligence (self smart)
8. Logical Intelligence (problem solving smart)

As you can see there are a lot of different types of intelligence according to Dr. Howard Gardner. These are really important, in there own ways. People have different things the are good at which is why Gardner came up with this theory.

For example, a mathematician may not be good at playing the guitar, the same way a guitarist may not be good at may. They both are great in their own fields but when it comes to different things they may struggle.

What Gardner says is that schools usually teach children to have verbal or logical intelligence. Gardner is encouraging schools to teach all different types of way that way kids that are smart in music instead of books feels like they are also doing a good job.

I would love to become nature smart, I love the outdoors and for as much as I am outside, I don't know much about it. I would consider myself to be have visual, interpersonal, and logical intelligence already so I would love to learn something new.
